You can apply for a National ID card online. Follow these steps:

  1. To register for a National ID card online, visit: NID Pre-Enrollment

  2. Enter you phone number.

    Careful!

    Enter the phone number that you have access to as you will receive an OTP on this number. Also this number will be used in future to receive SMS when your National Identification Card is printed.

  3. Then in the form, fill in your details such as your name, date of birth, address, etc.

  4. After filling in the form, select the date of visit for biometric and the office to visit.

  5. Print the form and visit the office on the selected date for biometric.

    Before you print

    All the information including QR code should be in one page. So, adjust print settting to make that happen.

    Don't forget!

    Remember to carry all the necessary documents such as original citizenship certificate for verification and सिफारिस from your district if you are applying in another district for NID.

  6. After the biometric process is completed, you will receive a printed paper with your National Identification Number (NIN) and all your information.

  7. Verify the information on the printed paper and sign it. Then give it to the officer.

  8. After the officer scans the paper you will be given back the paper. Keep it safe.

  9. All done! Now you can return home and wait for your National ID card to be printed. Your National Identification Number (NIN) is right there on the paper. You can use this number for various purposes.

How to check the card print status of your National ID card?

After you have successfully registered for a National ID card by visiting the office for biometric you will get you National Identification Number (NIN) in a printed paper along with all you information. Now you might be wondering when you will get your National ID card. Don't worry, though I don't have the exact time frame, you can definitely check the status of your application online. You will need 16-digit application number or National Identification Number (NIN) to check the status of your application.

  1. Visit the Citizen Portal.
  2. Enter your 16-digit application number or National Identification Number (NIN).
  3. Enter the captcha code.
  4. Click on the "Search" button.
