Updated: How to enable RDP on Windows Home

Windows Home does not have the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) server enabled by default. This is a quick guide on how to enable it.

Enabling RDP on Windows Homeโ€‹

What if a user cannot be logged in and shows error that it has insufficient rights?โ€‹

  1. Log on as an administrator
  2. Click Start, then Run.
  3. Type secpol.msc and click OK
  4. Expand Local Policies, then click User Rights Assignment
  5. In the right pane, double-click Allow logon through Remote Desktop Services
  6. Make sure the Remote Desktop Users group is listed. If not, click Add User or Group and add it.
  7. Click OK
